We woke up early to make sure we got to the airport two hours before our 7:15 flight. We did, and we made it back to New York without a problem. The smelly, big, American sedan that took us from JFK back to our apartment was quite a shock after travelling in Mercedes, but it was good to be home.

Overall we had an excellent trip. I can’t recommend Portugal highly enough. The language barrier was never a problem, the people were friendly, the food was good, there were excellent sights, and it’s still a good bit cheaper than the rest of western Europe. Most Americans seem to view it as a secondary destination, but it’s a place I look forward to visiting again.
