London, March 2004 (page 1 of 8)
Prologue
Writing about London is much harder than writing about Portugal for two reasons. First, most of my intended audience has been to London but not to Portugal, so simple description just won’t cut it this time out. Second, since I live in New York City, I feel a constant need to compare the two cities. That, however, is probably not interesting for people who don’t live in New York.
I started by doing a chronological blow-by-blow of the trip, much like I did for Portugal. I didn’t like it. Instead, I’m going to group what we did into categories, and jump around in time. You can pick and choose what you want to read; my beer rants will all be on one page so they’ll be easy to skip. If you have gripes or compliments about the new organization, or about anything at all, really, feel free to send me an email here: mpd@mattereaterlad.com
The cast of characters is, of course, the same is it was last year. This year Edie didn’t really have a full spring break; student teaching and regular classes combined to give us much less time off. Since we currently live in New York, we decided to take not-quite-a-week and head to London. I had been to London once before when I was thirteen. Edie had never been.
